What happens when 5 food/health/fitness bloggers spend a weekend in the countryside together ? …
- Delicious dinners, epic brunches and tasty treats
- Sweaty HIIT sessions, long walks and a morning run
- All the photos, selfies and food porn
- Not to mention all the chats, laughs and enjoying ourselves – fully embracing the word balance ! I mean whats a girls weekend without prosecco 😉
This weekend gone was spent at Swallows Nest a beautiful cottage in Slaithwaite that i found on Air BnB – house goals indeed ! It was a fab weekend with these 4 beauties Pam, Sophia, Sophie & Katie, a full weekend to chill out and catch up.Even though we all spammed a lot of the weekend already here is a little round up of the highlights.
FOOD
A key element of any foodie getaway is the food – obviously and we were no different (Katie even had the google document ready). On Friday with spreadsheet in hand we stocked up on essentials from Aldi and put together quite a spread. And dessert was my birthday apple and cinnamon cake made by the baking guru herself SpamellaB.
Saturday an epic brunch was created and could it have been anymore instagramble ha chilli and lime smashed avocado, poached eggs (shoutout to Soph for poaching all 12), smoked salmon and greens. Delicious !!
What better way to end the trip then with some overnight chis oats topped with pip & nut and berries.
FITNESS
We all like to keep pretty active so even though it was a child weekend fitness was going to be on the menu. Being a personal trainer it only made sense that I took the girls through a workout. One super sweaty HIIT and Hill sprints later we were definitely in need of that brunch.
Here is the workout for you all to try:
30/30 secs x3
Lateral Shuffles / 180 degree squat jumps / Alternate Lunges
40/20 secs x3
Plank Low Squat / Sumo pulses / Walking lunges
Hill Sprints x 5
It was a gorgeous day so we took to countryside and 5km later we had explored the beautiful area around us as well as stake out the local village. Our legs and bums were definitely aching later on especially as the hill up to the cottage wasn’t the nicest haha.It was this hill Katie had the brilliant idea to run/walk/lunge up to end our run on the Sunday morning. Fun but bloody hard.
FUN
The main reason for this weekend was to get away from our busy lives and chill out and we did just that. Doing fitness and foodie things comes as second nature but it was nice to get glammed up whilst sipping prosecco before our meal out. We tried a local restaurant called Vanilla Bean feasting on tapas and yes more prosecco ;). The food was lovely and we couldn’t fault any of it. A weekend away with SpamellaB equals baking 🙂 And we created 2 fab little treats of double chocolate cookies with a peanut butter drizzle and chickpea cookie dough blondies. I am certain she will be sharing the recipes soon with you all.
I love how passionate and motivated these girls are and the ideas that were flowing were so exciting. Watch this space as we have some plans!
An epic weekend and I can’t wait for the next one
