The social event of the year that every northen blogger / vlogger / content creator needs to have in their diary – The Northern Blog Awards !
What is it ??
Founded by Holly Wood (_hollygoeslightly) the northern blog awards (NBAs) is a night to celebrate of all northern content creators (bloggers, vloggers, influencers) and brands. It is a night to put on a posh frock, have a 3 course meal, drink some prosecco and dance the night away in a gorgeous setting. And lets not forget be in a room with some seriously cool people. Holly is also the founder of the northern blogger collective WeBlogNorth and soon to be WeBlogUk and it was through doing this that she realised there just wasn’t anything like this up north so in true Holly style she created it.
The event
This year it was held at The Midland Hotel which in itself felt very glam with plenty of spots for pictures which of course is a bloggers dream 🙂 We were greeted with a glass of prosecco and a chance to have our professional welcome pictures taken by Carl of Vain Photo. This year I had Elliot as my plus one as he had created the video for the awards and it felt nice to have him involved (and it also meant my own personal photographer all night 😉 ) Downstairs in the main room we had the meet and greets with the different brands who had sponsored categories: Bathroom Takeaway, Booths, SkinBase Facial, HIITs radio to name a few and the main sponsers of the night Christy. There was a chance to jump into bed with Christy, get in a bath and have some bubbles with Bathroom Takeaway and have the selfies of all selfies with Skin Base facial.
Then it was onto the main event, the awards with our 3 course meal sandwiched in between, which was just glorious. I want to take this moment to congratulate all of the winners because you all deserve it and should be so proud of yourselves, a massive well done to you all !! The main woman herself also gave another great speech bringing home exactly why she does it and what it all means. After dinner came the band and all of the dancing which I of course was front and centre stage for haha. Of which I am pretty sure there will be video evidence of this somewhere.
The community
What I love most about the NBAs is the sense of community not competition. Yes it is an awards event but it isn’t just about that it is about recognising all talent, celebrating peoples success and being inspired. The amount of amazing people in one room was just insane and it really brings home what Holly is wanting to create and that is community, collaboration and inspire. To further the community element there is the WeBlogNorth collective that I am so proud to be apart of and have made solid friends through it. In fact a weblogger Anna created the designs for the logos and programmes and Hannah of Stag and Raven created an amazing print to go in the goody bags. And we can’t forget Maxine who was incredible at running the night so Holly could take a step back and enjoy her night.
I would highly recommend this event to any northern content creator whether you are up for an award or not. It is always an incredible night with so much going on and an epic goody bag to match. And all of this for less then £70 a ticket … I would call that a bargain! I am already excited for 2019 and who knows where this one might be ?!
