It’s safe to say that 2016 hasn’t had the best rep for the world but personally it hasn’t been all that bad and there are a lot of positives that have happened. But rather than just a list of the things I have done I want to share with you what I have gained from this year.

KNOWLEDGE

‘Love what you do and you will never work a day in your life’ well I semi agree with this, you can still love what you do and have off days too ha. But because I love it I am constantly wanting to improve and further my knowledge. For my career, myself and of course all of you. It is great to end the year with another qualification string to add to my bow as I am now Pre and Post Natal certified and can’t wait to help mums to be and new mums keep fit and healthy 🙂

A further highlight was attending Ben Coombers nutrition seminar as he is someone in the industry who knows his stuff and it was great to learn and get as much from him as I could.

My goal for next year is to read a new book a month that will teach me something new and help further my knowledge in my field. I am also trying and training for something that is out of my comfort zone but hopefully be worth it in the end.

STRENGTH

I am ending the year the fittest and strongest I have been! I feel my muscles are finally starting to do what they are meant to 😉 and I am seeing the progress. Hitting PBs in all the big lifts and just feeling like I can do more in and out of the gym.

Next years goal ? 100kg Deadlift 200kg Hip Thrust and 5 unassisted pull ups.

Mentally strength wise I think its safe to say I’m improving on how I see myself. I finally managed to kick my Body Dysmorphia in the teeth – there are still days but now I can recognise it and work out how to improve it.

2017 Goal : To help others gain the same clarity in themselves.

SUPPORT

Friendships have become stronger over this past year and I have really gained a solid support network both in Manchester and social media. A whole range of people in all aspects of my life who are there when I need them for work, fitness, life you name it there is someone there 🙂 If you surround yourself with people who want to support you, help you and see you succeed you will have a much better quality of life. There is no need for extra negativity.

An exciting development this year was the start up of WeBlogMcr a network for Manchester bloggers to get together and learn new skills, make new connections and be with people who get it. I can’t wait for all the exciting things that are planned for next year – watch this space.

BALANCE

Last year I thought I had cracked the balance thing … truth is I was far from it. This year however I think I’ve got it 🙂 I don’t track macros or count calories, I don’t stress too much if I miss a gym session and I don’t feel guilty about being social and indulging now and then.

To me balance is doing a combination of things you need to do, things you want to do and things you love to do that will make you fit, healthy and happy !

SELF LOVE

I can honestly say that this has been the year I finally started to love who I am and my body. Aesthetics are great and good to have but they will never be the end goal for me. I want to be strong, fit and healthy. I want to inspire other women to do the same and look at what their bodies can do not what they can’t. I will always be working on new goals and challenges but all the while remembering to love my body through the process. I have never felt more body confident than I do right now and I’m not at my ‘smallest’ or ‘leanest’ but I am at my healthiest as a whole package. This has been my biggest achievement in my eyes and I am so happy I can finally look in a mirror and be proud of what I see. It is a place I would love everyone to be.

HAPPINESS

Putting all of the above together with my new mindset and drive to constantly learn, develop and experience new things I am the happiest I have been 🙂 I am truly excited to see what 2017 brings and there are lots of things in the pipeline I can’t wait to share.

My aim for next year is to keep on with this new found happiness and focus on celebrating every little moment. Sharing good times with friends and embracing whatever is thrown my way
